Jazz singer for Corporate Drinks at London Marriott Hotel, grosvenor Square

Jazz singer Rosie Holman looks straight at the camera whilst smiling. She is sitting on a leather sofa and there is a guitar amp draped with fairy lights. The atmosphere is relaxed and intimate.

I was creating a relaxed vibe for after-conference drinks and networking for the delegates.

My trusty battery powered PA, which came in useful as there were no available plug sockets!

Live music is a great way of creating a relaxed atmosphere for a corporate drinks reception, especially as it’s a social situation where not many people know each other! Music not only acts as a talking point that can help break the ice, but it sets the tone for the room, helping people feel more at ease, and therefore more comfortable. Networking with other people is always easier when you feel more relaxed!

This is exactly the vibe that Toni from Clarion Events wanted for her post-conference drinks reception. Taking place in the basement bar, ‘The Luggage Room’, at London Marriott Hotel, Grosvenor Square, the room has a vintage feel, something that Toni was keen to keep as a theme throughout her drinks reception. Between the room, the music and the cocktail selection, she wanted a ‘speakeasy’ vibe!

We discussed keeping the music relaxed and very much acting as a backdrop to the conversations that were taking place, so I played Jazz standards like ‘Paper Moon’, ‘Summertime’ and ‘All Of Me’ while guests sipped Lychee and Gin cocktails! I may have had a mocktail version myself…

I had a thoroughly enjoyable evening and not least because Toni and I chatted at length at the end about our mutual background in musical theatre and events! It’s always good to swap war stories!

If you’d like some background music to create a relaxed atmosphere at your corporate drinks reception, get in touch with me and we can discuss the kind of atmosphere you’d like to create!
