50th birthday garden party with jazz and soul singer, Rosie Holman

This beautiful 50th birthday garden party took place in West London in May and boy, was it a hot one! With friends and family gathered in their back garden, Char & Pete were the perfect hostess and host, with the aid of their end of garden bar (a VERY impressive lockdown project!)

What was Char looking for entertainment wise? A solo soul singer who could mix in some Jazz. So, we started chilled with some easy listening Jazz and smooth Soul, before ramping things up with some Disco and Dance hits! Char had specifically asked if I could play ‘Somebody Else’s Guy’ and when it came on, her and most of her guests joined in singing along, proving how much of a banger it is!

In fact, the dancing was a major part of the afternoon (see the video below!) and I felt very much at home as we all boogied together in the cabana-like setting!

After the party, I got in touch with Char to check she’d recovered(!) and to thank her for booking me. She had this to say…

At first Char had been looking for a solo singer and was worried that “[they] would sound different to the video and not fit the atmosphere of the party” but “as soon as we spoke I was totally at ease.” When asked if she’d change anything about the entertainment, Char replied only that “I WOULD HAVE HAD HER PLAY THE WHOLE DAY IF I HAD THE FUNDS!" and “[Rosie] was amazing and very accommodating (as things were running late), mixed with the guests and everyone loved [her].”

Thank you for having me, Char! (And especially for my little video for my brother who is also a massive Benidorm fan!)
